English Language Challenges

Imagen
Hi everyone! I hope all of you are fine! Before to start, I want to say thank you for reading all my posts. This is the last blog, and its topic is my experience learning English at the university and the use of blogs. In general, my experience at English courses has been good, I have done only two (English III and IV), but I have learned a lot. However, the pandemic has been a huge problem to the English courses because the online context has generated a lack of motivation and also has prevented a high level of participation.    About the blogs, I consider it a good tool to practice writing and reading, also I think they are a great possibility to know our classmates, especially in the online context. Nevertheless, sometimes they are exhausting because they are a lot, and writing a blog, at least in my case, takes so much time. On the other hand, I think that I need to improve my English, to be specific, I need to learn more vocabulary and practice grammar because, due t...

Changes to my study program

Imagen
Hi everyone! I hope you are pretty well. Today, I'm going to talk about changes that I suggest to the program of my major. In the first place, and maybe you remember due to previous blogs, I study Political Science, which is about the power and political processes and phenomena. In that sense, a lot of things are part of its field of study and I think that the current program represents it very well, so I would suggest only a few changes. The first one is for a specific subject, which is Political Ideas. It is the first course of four about political theory, but I think that is a little bit unnecessary because all its contents are a resume of the next courses, so I propose to eliminate it (to overtake the others) or maybe replace it with another subject like local management or something like this, to enlarge our employment opportunities. The second change is to incorporate (at the first semester of study) the possibility to take a leveling course of technological skills because in...

Time travel to the future

Imagen
Hi everyone!  I hope you are pretty well, today I'm going to talk about time travel to the future.  To start, I want to mention that, if I could travel in time, I would like to go to a lot of different moments and places, but today I will choose Chile in one more year (2022) because I am so curious about what is going to say the new Constitution.  In this context, I hope Chile recognizes itself as a plurinational State and ensures respect to all the first nations. Also, I would like the State guarantees a lot of rights to the people and the environment. Through these measures, I hope the country can be a better place for everyone (and not only for a little group as it has been for a long time), and all of us can have more opportunities.   I know that if I want to see real changes I would probably have to travel a couple of years forward than 2022, but for the moment, I prefer to know only the text because I don't know what to expect for the following years due t...

My future job

Imagen
Hi everyone! I hope you are pretty well.  This time, the blog is going to be about my employment projections. As you probably know due to previous blogs, I study Political Science. In this way, before starting the major, I always thought that I would work as a diplomat, but  — although I haven't closed the door to this possibility —  I see it further every day because I have not searched enough information and other areas call my attention. In that sense, I imagine myself working in the State or maybe in a foundation or international organization because I prefer social service and the practical side of my career to the academia and research side. I understand that I probably will work at an office but   — as I have mentioned in almost all my blogs hahaha —  I really want to travel and discover a lot of places, cultures and new experiences, so if I have the opportunity, I would like to find the way to mix both indoor and outdoor work. However, I know that it wil...

Postgraduate studies

Imagen
Hi everyone, I hope you are fine! Welcome to this new blog post. Today I'm going to talk about postgraduate studies. When I finish my major, I would like to study for a Master's Degree and after that, perhaps for a second Bachelor's Degree, specifically in History. In this sense, I always have considered studying in a Master's Program because it would provide me the possibility to specialize my knowledge in a specific area of my major and also because it gives me more employment opportunities.  However, I don't know what to study yet, but I have been thinking of two options: Political Theory, in which I would like to do a course on modern political theory and, International Relations with courses of Human rights and gender studies. Sometimes I also consider a course of Latin America studies, but I haven't decided to count it on the list yet.  If I have the possibility, I want to study outside of Chile because, as I said in previous blogs, I want to travel around...

TV Series

Imagen
Hi everyone! Welcome to my third blog post! Today I´m going to talk about TV series.  To start, I want to say that I love TV series and I usually watch it very fast because I like to watch all the episodes in a row and I can't stop until finish the entire series or season. For that reason, I have decided to privilege university classes and duties and not watch any series during the semester, except in break weeks. In this context, when I have enough time, I would like to watch Sex Education because almost everyone that I know has recommended it to me. Also, I would like to watch Squid Game due to a lot of people are talking about it and I want to know if is so good as they say. I commonly use Netflix to watch TV series and movies but sometimes I use illegal platforms (I don't recommend you do that hahaha) to watch content that is not available on the first one. Despite all the possibilities that an illegal platform brings you, I would like to have a Disney Plus account becaus...

The best vacation ever

Imagen
Hi everyone, welcome to my second blog! Today I'm going to talk about my best vacation, which was in January of 2019, when my mom, brother, sister, and I went from Melipilla to Punta Arenas by car, through Carretera Austral for two weeks. It was an amazing experience because we visited a lot of beautiful cities and towns of Chile and Argentina (in some parts the road simply "disappears" or finish in a town on the border of the sea, so to continue you have to ride on a ferry or go to Argentina to take another road) like Hornopirén, Chile Chico, Puerto Río Tranquilo, Río Gallegos, Comodoro Rivadavia, and others.  We made a lot of activities: we went to hot springs near Chaitén, did a long walk to the Ventisquero Colgante Queulat (Queulat hanging glacier), explored the Torres del Paine National Park, and also rode on a little boat to the Capillas de Mármol (Marble Chapels) in the General Carrera Lake.  Despite not everything was perfect (for example, one day we had to stop b...
